Climbing Lessons

Introduction to sports climbing on real rock from age 8.

Montagne sensation has equiped a natural rock climbing wall with quick and easy access, specifically designed for young climbers to gain confidence.

Rock climbing - what's the difference between "Sports climbing" and "Trad climbing" ? The latter is extensively practiced in the US and UK and consists of placing temporarily protection as the climb progresses. In France, sports climbing is the predominate type of [non-alpine] climbing and similar to indoor climbing walls, the protection is permanently "bolted" to the rock and the rope clipped in to protect the climber. Sports climbing is fast, light and can be very athletic.

The routes are graded by difficulty from 3 to 9, with intermediate "a","b,"c" grades and sometimes a "+" or "-" is added to tweak the grade; for example "3b+", which would represent a simple scramble for an adult, though a young novice climber may find it challenging. Few people are able to climb grades 8c and 9. Be warned, there is no account taken for exposure! Guide books may state grade 3c on a short single pitch 7m route, which is not the same as 3c on the 4th pitch of a 100m route - there will be a lot more gas!

Our instructors will teach you how to climb safely. It works for adults as well - give it a try !
